Weather models
The windgram and Skew-T panels have a
Model dropdown. Wind Map,
Thermal Map, Cloud Map,
Rain Map, and Hike+Fly / Simulation forecast wind use a
separate map model control on the toolbar (HRDPS ~1 km West, HRDPS 2.5 km, or HRRR ~3 km CONUS).
-
HRDPS West ~1 km — Highest-resolution HRDPS over
western Canada (roughly BC through Manitoba), from our hosted zarr
ingest (MSC HRDPS-West). Windgrams and map overlays within the West
domain. Horizon: up to ~48 h per run.
Updates: MSC runs at 00Z and
12Z UTC; we check for new data
hourly (UTC :00) and ingest when published
(often a few hours after init).
-
HRDPS 2.5 km — Continental mesoscale HRDPS from our
hosted zarr ingest (MSC HRDPS continental). Windgrams and map overlays
across the continental domain. Horizon: up to
~48 h per run. Updates: MSC runs at
00Z, 06Z, 12Z, and
18Z UTC; hourly ingest check.
-
HRRR ~3 km (CONUS) — NOAA High-Resolution Rapid
Refresh over the conterminous United States, from our hosted zarr
ingest. Windgrams and map overlays within the CONUS domain.
Horizon: up to ~48 h per run.
Updates: model runs at 00Z,
06Z, 12Z, and
18Z UTC; hourly ingest check.
-
RDPS 10 km — Regional GEM/RDPS via Open-Meteo
(
cmc_gem_rdps). Windgram / Skew-T only (no hosted map
grids on this model). Horizon: ~3–4 days from
the latest published run (~84 h). Updates: MSC
cycles at 00Z, 06Z,
12Z, and 18Z UTC, typically
~2 h publication lag via Open-Meteo.
