Features & documentation

ParaglidingWX brings together map-based forecast visuals, modern windgrams, a hike-and-glide reachability planner, and selected live wind stations—focused on paragliding in Canada, the USA and Northern Mexico. Each card below links to a short guide where one exists.

• Point forecasts
• Windgram Time-height point forecast: wind, lapse rate, parcel buoyancy, temperature, clouds, airspace, and site notes.
• Skew-T Classic temperature / dew-point sounding for one forecast hour at a map point or site.
• Map forecasts
• Wind Map Hourly mean wind (or 10 m gust mode) on a grid over the view.
• Thermal Map Mean parcel buoyancy (°C) averaged through the lowest ~200 m above terrain.
• Cloud Map Total cloud cover for the selected forecast hour (HRDPS when available).
• Rain Map Model surface precipitation rate for the map hour—not storm totals.
• Smoke Map Optional hourly ground-level PM2.5 overlay (FireSmoke.ca).
• Hazards & airspace
• Wildfires BC Wildfire Service and CWFIS perimeters; optional Canadian NOTAM geometry on the same layer.
• NOTAM overlays (Canada) NAV CANADA polygon NOTAMs on the map and in OpenAir downloads.
• NOTAM overlays (USA — TFR) FAA temporary flight restriction polygons for the CONUS view.
• Airspace OpenAIP charted airspace, class filters, and vertical profile at any point.

• Launch, landing and landing guidance Takeoff pins, landing zones (LZ markers and polygons), and community landing-guidance polygons — colours, differences, and editing with email sign-in.
• Settings Wind color scale, units, map markers, terrain and overlay defaults, and live station display (saved in your browser).
• Downloads OpenAir (.txt) for XCTrack, FlySkyHy, XCSoar: NOTAMs, wildfire advisory zones, and landing guidance.
